In the kitchen renowned chef Tremaine Plummer has created a simple menu based
on good quality British pub food. There is a regularly changing choice of
sausages all locally made and organic which come with three different types of
mashed potato, plain, wholegrain or horseradish. Also on the menu are the
award winning Pieminister pies which also come with the choice of mashes and
both are served with a rich, delicious gravy. These dishes are great value at
£7.50 and are also available for the bargain price of £6 Monday-Wednesday
between 5pm and 7pm.
Adding to this there are a range of specials available daily with pub classics
such as The Spotted Cow Burger with thick cut chips sitting next to a
Butternut squash and Roquefort cheese tartlet or Fishcakes served with creamed
spring greens and new potatoes. These can all be followed by Tremaine’s
classic puddings such as Lemon Tart with Chantilly cream or Panatone Bread and
Butter pudding.
There are also lighter dishes on the menu with the charcuterie plate being a
popular choice, a selection of quality cured meats come overlapping with wild
rocket and watercress topped off with shavings of parmesan and a sprinkling of
olives. Another popular choice is the Somerset plate, a selection of some of
the West Country’s finest cheeses served with homemade pickles and rustic
bread.
No pub would be complete without a good Sunday Roast and in the short time
since The Spotted Cow opened our Sunday Roasts have already become legendary.
